The 2017 Latinx Mental Health Summit

Categories: General Event

Event Date:
April 21, 2017 – 12:00 AM

Location:
Cone University Center Lucas Room

The need for mental health services among Latinos is a growing health concern nationally in the United States and locally in Charlotte. Less than 1 in 5 Latinos with a mental health disorder contact a health care provider, less than 1 in 11 contact a mental health specialist, and recent Latino immigrants rarely have access to any mental health services. It is estimated that by 2060 Latinos will be the largest ethnic minority in the United States, comprising 31% of the nation’s population. Innovative culturally appropriate solutions are needed now, to increase mental health treatment options and approaches for Latinos with mental health disorders.
