UNC Charlotte Distinguished Alumni Award
The Cato College of Education is now accepting nominations for the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizing graduates who demonstrate excellence, ethical leadership, and impactful service in education and beyond. Help us honor alumni who are making a meaningful difference by submitting a nomination today. All nominations must be submitted no later than March 15th.
The award recipient will be recognized at the annual Cato College of Awards Ceremony in April.
Evidence of Excellence
Please provide a narrative response (approx. 250–500 words per section) or attach supporting documentation (CV, letters of support, etc.) addressing the following:
- Impactful Practice: Describe how the nominee has demonstrated “highly effective” professional work in the field of education. What specific outcomes or successes have they achieved in their organization?
- Ethics & Advocacy: Provide an example of how the nominee has modeled ethical leadership or advocated for the people/organizations they serve.
- Commitment to All: How has the nominee’s work positively impacted diverse settings (urban, rural, or underserved communities) as outlined in the Cato College mission?
- Leadership & Engagement: How does the nominee fulfill the vision of being a leader in research, teaching, or service? (e.g., mentoring, innovative projects, or professional service).
Eligibility Requirements
- Degree Holder: Must have earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from the Cato College of Education at UNC Charlotte.
- Professional Standing: Must be in good standing with their school/community and licensing agency (if applicable).
- Time Since Graduation: Nominees must have graduated at least five years ago or more.
